The time is always right to do what is right. – Martin Luther King, JR. (1929 – 1968)

What’s so hard to understand that hydrofluorosilicic acid should not be added to our drinking water? Pro-fluoride people keep saying it’s for the “poor kids” who can’t afford proper dental care. Okay, so, let’s not argue about the “fluoride” that’s supposed to prevent cavities. What about the lead and arsenic that comes along with the hydrofluorosilicic acid, which isn’t a natural fluoride?

What about all the scientific studies that have proven lead at any level damages children’s health? What about the arsenic that is pure poison? There are lots of studies proving the hazards of these chemicals, but NO studies proving the safety of silicofluorides.

How can fluoride proponents justify adding lead and arsenic to our children’s drinking water? Where’s their science to say that’s safe?

Why is our water still fluoridated? Simple. People don’t care!

Is it so much that more people need to be educated or informed, or is it that people need to do something about what they already know before it kills them?

This brings us to the previous FFL Newsletter, January 9, 2015.

I had received this letter from a Lethbridge business person:

Hello Marilyn,

This news letter is a good idea to keep in touch with your members. Is there any effort to make the circulation bigger?

I suggest that your group should get out and touch general public through protest or procession on the streets. Lethbridge public is not well informed, I believe. Many families don’t read news papers or books. That is where the focus should be to make them aware of this issue.

I strongly believe it is not necessary to add fluoride in water, municipal or otherwise. There’s no substitute for good brushing twice daily even with simple thing as powder charcoal and salt mix. Toothpaste is a luxury.

Thanks,

To which I responded:

What’s wrong here?

This person is encouraging “us” to take action, but has done nothing to help – no signs on the lawn, no t-shirts, no signatures on the petition, no attendance at the events we had all thru 2013.

Why is it up to “your group”? Isn’t it up to everyone? Is this why fluoride is still in our water? You think? Is it up to somebody else to do the work? How “strongly” do people believe that fluoride is bad?

Let me tell you, not strongly at all! Otherwise, we’d see more mothers on the streets protesting, more letters to City Hall, more editorials in the newspaper, more signs around town, more people saying enough of poisoning me and my family.

What do you say?

Within the hour of sending out that newsletter, I received this reply from that individual:

Hi Marilyn

I am guilty as charged. But you judged me without knowing what I was going through.

[I’ve not included the description of the serious health issues that were described.]

You got angry with this person who was the first one to make it an election issue when Neil asked me.

I still stand by what I wrote to you in my email. People are brain washed by those who benefit from the sale of this substance. Your organization needs to drum up support from those innocent folks who do not know the bad effects of Fluoridation.

I thank you for putting my email in your News Letter to start debate.

Sincerely,

We discussed things further and a lawn sign was purchased in support of ending fluoridation.

People, it’s not hard to show that you care. If everyone on this mailing list were to write to the City Councillors, they would be paying attention. Believe me!

Who’s responsible? Them or us?

Artificial Water Fluoridation – Off to a poor start/fluoride injures the newborn (January 1, 2015)

It is the prevailing belief that Public Health insulates our children from harm with protective policies, close surveillance of perceived health threats, and scientific analysis of all contaminants suspected of being injurious.

Evidence indicates, however, that despite many prior warnings of physical and mental injuries that could result, an ill-considered public health policy has been implemented and allowed to fly under the medical radar for 70 years.

This policy enables the introduction of a toxin into the bloodstreams of pregnant women. This toxin can be present at the moment of conception. It is one of those “harmful substances” that Mr. Johnston warned of. And it is no secret that this toxin can find its way into the delicate confines of the womb.

In 1944, major public health agencies on both sides of the border conceived, introduced and then began to vigorously promote a health policy that their own medical predecessors had warned could be devastating for human beings. Devastating, especially, to the very young.

That disputed public health policy is Artificial Water Fluoridation (AWF).

Rethinking the risks and benefits of fluoridation (January/February 2013)

Health Canada is prominent on the List. Health Canada literature suggests that fluoridation is just a topping up of the natural fluoride that is already present in source water. That would be true if we were topping up natural calcium fluoride concentrations with additional calcium fluoride. The chemicals commonly used to deliver those additional fluoride ions are actually synthetic silicofluorides, the most favoured for use being hydrofluorosilicic acid. These chemicals are normally classified as regulated category 1 toxic wastes but they become environmentally acceptable, and fit to ingest, the moment that they are re-labeled as water treatment ‘products’. Health Canada states that these, and other silicofluorides, are safe and effective for use as fluoridating agents. But upon what does Health Canada base those assurances?

In response to an information petition submitted to the Office of the Auditor General in 2008, Health Canada had to reveal that it “does no research on silicofluoride chemicals”. So, Health Canada cannot speak to the safety of silicofluorides from any results of in-house testing. Health Canada relies, instead, on NSF International (NSF), a private industry consortium, to test, certify and assure that silicofluoride chemicals are safe for use in drinking water. Unfortunately, if you read its literature closely enough, you’ll note that NSF does not offer that assurance at all.

NSF examines water treatment chemicals and additives to attest that they meet already- established government health guidelines, and then certifies them ‘appropriate for use’ if they do. An important distinction here is that NSF does not certify any chemical to be ‘safe for use.’ In its own carefully worded disclaimer in the foreword of ‘NSF/ANSI Standard 60,’ NSF does not presume to tell anyone what to do with the chemicals that it certifies. Nor does it hold itself responsible for the performance of any of the chemicals that it certifies. Chemical ‘safety’ is a measurement of performance.

Normally, NSF requires manufacturer-supplied toxicological testing of all drinking water treatment chemicals and additives before granting Standard 60 certification. One is left to wonder why NSF, still missing the good-to-go paperwork on silicofluorides, has not pressed harder for the mandatory toxicology tests. Without proof of toxicological suitability, how is it that tankers are still making deliveries?

Bitter Pill: The Dangerous Side Effects of Fluoridated Antibiotics

Fluoroquinolones have fluoride as a central part of the drug. Fluoride is a known neurotoxin, and drugs with an attached fluoride molecule are able to penetrate into very sensitive tissues, including your brain.

The ability to cross the blood-brain barrier is what makes fluoride such a potent neurotoxin. Fluoride also disrupts collagen synthesis, and can damage your immune system by depleting energy reserves and inhibiting antibody formation in your blood…

Dr. Terence Young, MD, also featured in this video, lost his 15-year old daughter to a lethal drug effect in 2000.

Channeling his grief into finding out how that could happen, he says he discovered “corrupt practices that prevented doctors and patients learning what the true risks of prescription drugs were. And the reason that’s happened is because of this incredible marketing power of the pharmaceutical industry.”

Fluoridation’s 70th Anniversary – Not Something to Celebrate

NEW YORK, Jan. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — January 25, 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of fluoridation – forcing Americans to ingest fluoride chemicals via the public water supplies without their informed consent. Fluoridation promoters repeatedly claim that the practice is “safe” and “effective” but science does not support either claim, reports the Fluoride Action Network (FAN).

Paul Connett, PhD, FAN Executive Director says, “Politics not science keeps fluoridation alive. Fluoridation proponents, including the CDC, hire PR agencies to sell us fluoridation using half-truths, talking points and diversions. Dentists at the CDC claim that fluoridation is ‘one of the top public health achievements of the twentieth century,’ in reality it is one of greatest public health betrayals of the twentieth century.”
