It’s a massive betrayal of the public’s trust. First of all, doctors should not stand by and see every day a violation of the individual’s right to informed consent. – Dr. Paul Connett
Martin Van Popta had a conversation with someone who was suggesting fluoridation helped his children have fewer cavities and therefore, it should be mandated for everyone.
Martin’s reply (my emphasis):
I agree that it is up to you whether or not you want to trust the “professionals,” but is it up to you whether or not I should trust the professionals?
You might despair and say, “How can I know anymore when everyone has their own agenda?” I sympathize with you on this one.
It can be difficult to get through all the information, and harder to know what to do with it once you’ve heard it. It’s just as difficult to justify oneself trusting in professionals when we know the facts and the professionals are found to be in error. That is why we’re trying to reclaim the liberty to make these decisions for ourselves.
Let those who trust the “establishment” with their lives and their children’s lives take fluoride supplements or use more toothpaste. (I don’t care how you want to ingest the fluoride as long as you don’t make me do it with you.) But allow everyone who investigates the matter and decides against ingesting fluoride the freedom not to.
The following is not an angry interrogation, Alex, although I know it reads that way. They’re questions meant to highlight the injustice of Public Water Fluoridation. Are you against civil liberty?
Should you decide for me what my children should ingest? Should you permit the government to decide what my children ingest?
This isn’t about personal experience, which you’ve already pointed out. This is about personal freedom. Do you want to live in a country where the establishment forces their direction on you and your family? Are you willing to hand over that authority to them? Should you also be able to hand over that authority to them on my behalf?
Would you be as willing to support water fluoridation if it benefited three of your children, but the fourth was deathly allergic?
What is lacking in all this isn’t honest professionalism or accurate research, but rather a passion for justice and love for neighbor. Have you traded in liberty for tyranny and exchanged empathy with apathy?
